This article is all about Honor 5X problems and its troubleshooting so you have a relatively easier journey with your smartphone. For latest tips, tricks and hacks check out our dedicated section for Android Tricks. For the price, the Huawei Honor 5X brings a lot of incredible features. I had some hands-on time with the phone at a Huawei event and was surprised to find a great fingerprint scanner on the back of the smartphone. It is not as fast as the one found on the Huawei Mate 8 or Nexus 6P, but it does the job really well. There are very few issues reported about the smartphone, it is probably because it is a recently released device and is not available in some regions as of now. This is a good thing because I was not able to find something seriously wrong with the smartphone apart from some usual problems. So without further talk, let’s start discussing Honor 5X problems and its troubleshooting.
Problem 1 – Honor 5X is Overheating
One of the most common problems with the smartphone is it becoming rather warm to the touch after playing intense of video games or streaming a high-resolution video. A lot of users have complained about this and here are some solutions.
Solutions:
1.
A lot of devices get heated up while gaming. This is a very normal process and you shouldn’t be alarmed that much. However, your smartphone must not get too hot to touch.
2.
You can try gaming in short bursts of time and not stress the smartphone for prolonged periods.
3.
If you’re running games that require better hardware, frankly speaking, the smartphone is not capable of delivering great performance on 3-D intensive titles. You should know the limits of the smartphone; after all it’s a budget one.
4.
Try lowering the settings of the graphics in the game, usually a lot of games provide additional graphical option so that any device will be able to play them smoothly.
5.
If you are streaming videos from YouTube, try lowering the resolution of the video to gain immediate performance boost.
6.
If the Huawei Honor 5X is still heating a lot, you may need to consult a certified Huawei retailer. Your smartphone should be under warranty from the company and they will be able to better guide you through the process.
Problem 2 – There Is A Lot Of Bloatware
Huawei has managed to control their desires to completely fill up the smartphone with their own apps and software. However, there is still around 800 MB of bloatware on the smartphone. Here is what you can do to solve that.
Solutions:
1.
Thankfully, Huawei is aware that not many people are going to appreciate the apps they have installed on their smartphone, so they have kept the bloatware to a minimum. However, you can easily uninstall most of the apps they have included on the smartphone.
2.
In order to do so, simply head to Settings > App Manager and uninstall unnecessary apps.
3.
If you are unable to install some system apps, you will either need to root your smartphone or simply endure them. There’s not much we can do on an unrooted smartphone.
Problem 3 – Front Facing Camera Has Bad Quality
While the front facing camera of the smartphone is respectable enough, its performance and low light situations it hardly satisfactory. While you cannot counter the hardware limitations, you can still follow a few steps to make sure you get the best picture possible.
Solutions:
1.
First of all, make sure you have ample lighting in the area you’re taking a front facing photo with. Yes, this means you have to position yourself in some light to take a good photo.
2.
Smartphone camera has a smaller aperture so very little light goes through to the sensor. This means lowlight photography will be a problem and result in grainy photos.
3.
I also recommend that you check out some of the best selfie camera apps for Android to obtain better quality photos.
Problem 4 – Earpiece Sounds Robotic
Some users have reported that the earpiece speaker sounds robotic and metallic during phone calls. This seems to be a batch issue and can be resolved by contacting Huawei.
Solutions:
1.
You can try using a good quality hands-free to make phone calls. I understand that this is not an ideal situation but at least the hand free with it provides gives good quality audio.
2.
You can also press the volume up button during the call to make the sound louder. But this will only make the other person more audible and will not remove the robotic tone to the earpiece.
Problem 5 – The SIM Tray Is Not Ejecting
Some users have reported that they were not able to eject the SIM tray out of their smartphone. There can be several reasons for that to happen.
Solutions:
1.
Make sure you using the SIM tray tool provided with the Huawei Honor 5X. It is in the same box the smartphone shipped in depending on the region, it may be in a cardboard envelope.
2.
If you don’t have the SIM tray eject tool, you can even use a paperclip to eject the tray from the smartphone housing.
3.
Do not try to pry the tray out; otherwise you’ll damage it permanently. The only way to take it out is by putting the tool into the small slot located beside it.
4.
If the tray is still not coming out, you’ll need to take your smartphone to a certified Huawei technician.
Problem 6 – SD Card Is Not Being Detected
If you have already inserted an SD card into the slot and it is still not being detected, you can try out the following methods to see if anything works.
Solutions:
1.
First of all make sure you have a working SD card. You can do so by inserting it in another smart phone or using a card reader on your PC.
2.
If it is still working on other phones, try formatting it on your PC then inserting it in the Huawei Honor 5X.
3.
If it is still not being detected, try using another microSD card. They are fairly cheap these days so this won’t be such a big problem.
4.
Even after all these methods the card is not detected on the smartphone, there might be something wrong with the microSD card slot on the Huawei Honor 5X. You’ll have to take it to a service shop for a look.
