I’ve compiled a list of the best apps you can download on the Samsung Galaxy S7 to scratch every Android itch out there. From launchers, to photo editing, to music, to games, I’m talking about the whole package. If you want your Galaxy S7 to be the best phone it can be, keep reading.
1. Nova Launcher Prime
We’ve talked about Nova Launcher Prime before, and no one’s opinion on it has changed since then. Personal opinion aside, Nova Launcher is objectively one of the best launchers on the market, and worth its full Prime price. If you’ve never used Nova before, it offers a multitude of customization options even without paying the Prime price. I’ve been a fan of APUS launcher for a long time, but every day I consider switching over to Nova. If you want a custom launcher that really deserves the word custom in its description, pick up Nova for your Galaxy S7. Free Version
2. Package Disabler Pro
This is an app for Samsung devices specifically. If you don’t know what a package disabler is, it’s an app that disables or removes any factory installed bloatware you don’t want. The selling point of an app like this is that you don’t need to root your Galaxy S7 to use it. Getting rid of bloatware is a major reason why people root their phones, so this app could be a safe, but not free, alternative. Despite being an amazing Android phone, the Galaxy S7 still comes with preinstalled software not all users want. If you’re one of those users, Package Disabler Pro is a quick solution. 3. ES File Explorer
Every phone needs a file explorer, and the Galaxy S7 isn’t an exception to the rule. ES File Explorer has been around the block once or twice, and does its job just as well as any other app on the street. File Explorer doesn’t need a rooted phone to function, but does offer benefits to rooted users. ES File Explorer doesn’t just explore files, but manages apps, plays music, plugins to optimize your experience, and has a pro version with even more available features. Let’s talk about organization. I’m from the school of organized chaos, so everything has its place, and that place is the big pile in the corner of the room. Evernote is an app that helps people from my school make their organized chaos of a schedule, notes, and reminders into something serviceable. Something that sets Evernote apart from the pack of organization apps is its social aspect. The app gives you the ability to share and discuss your plans and notes quickly with anyone else who needs to be a part of the process. This is great for students of organized chaos that need to work with other school districts. If you need organization help, then Evernote is the app for you to get rid of clutter on your Galaxy S7. Duolingo is my favorite language learning app on the Google Play store. Its interface, design, and incentives to keep learning make the app a wonderful, and free package. The way Duolingo works is similar to Rosetta Stone. Instead of solely memorization, Duolingo uses association alongside traditional methods. I’ve been using Duolingo to learn German over the past few days, and though my results have been…subpar; I can’t fault the program. Learning another language has nothing but benefits, so Duolingo earns a spot on this list. Free Version
6. Snapseed
Stand aside Pixlr, Snapseed is about to steal your crown. The Samsung Galaxy S7 has a beautiful screen, so you should take advantage of it with one of the best photo editors on the market. Snapseed has the power of a desktop PC editor packed into a phone app, so I can’t imagine a better editor on the Galaxy S7. If you want to develop raw images right after taking them, then Snapseed is the perfect tool for the job. The app has a number of effects, editing tools, and layers to take advantage of at any time. If you don’t have a photo editor yet, or already have on your Galaxy S7, replace it with Snapseed and really take advantage of your fantastic screen. Free Version
7. Calorie Counter – MyFitnessPal
It’s important to stay on top of your calorie intake every day, no matter what your diet or eating habits are. Thankfully, there are plenty of apps that can help you keep track of this. However, the app that stands at the top of the list, is MyFitnessPal. This app has been the king of calorie counting since 2014, and its standing isn’t different today. MyFitnessPal works as a comprehensive calorie counter, food database, and nutrition consultant. If you’re using a different fitness app on your Galaxy S7, I highly recommend you switch to MyFitnessPal. It has a user friendly interface, a large database of foods, and a free entry price. 8. Mint: Personal Finance and Money
Mint is one of many personal finance apps, but its interface and style won me over. The only downside to Mint is that it currently only communicates with financial institutions in US and Canada. Mint is from the creators behind TurboTax, so if you’ve used that program before, you’re in for the same level of quality. Mint handles accounts, spending, planning for future expenditures, and more. Its interface is easy to use, and has a fair amount of bright colors that look great on a screen like the S7’s. Apps like Mint are a boon if you have trouble with budgeting, so I highly recommend it if you’re in the US or Canada. Free Version
9. Caustic 3
Caustic 3 scratches a personal itch for me, and functions as a wonderful Android synthesizer. I’ve always had a love for music creation, and if you want an all in one synthesizer package for free, it’s hard to beat Caustic 3. The link provided is a fully functioning trial for Caustic 3. In the trial version, you cannot import or export, but can make use of all the app’s functions. After downloading the trial, you can unlock the full version for $9.99.. Free Version
10. Groove Coaster 2
Groove Coaster 2 is one of my favorite rhythm games on the Google Play store. It has fantastic visuals, and a control method that lets you play using any instrument you want. The game features 100+ tracks to tap, strum, or knock your way through. The visuals are some of the flashiest I’ve seen, so on the Galaxy S7 screen you’re in for rhythm heavy treat. If you love rhythm games, Groove Coaster 2 is better than the first, and a trip worth taking. For additional music fun, and a more traditional rhythm game, check out Cytus for a tap happy blast. 11. Discord
Discord is a chat service, mostly intended for gamers, much like TeamSpeak. I usually use Skype for game chats (as opposed to Steam), but Discord is a much more attractive option. If Skype has been letting you down with service quality lately, I fully recommend Discord as an alternative. It’s an easy to use service that never fails to notify you when you set it up appropriately. Free Version
12. VLC Media Player
VLC Media Player is often at war with MX Player. No matter which of the two you pick, you’re picking a winner for all of your media needs. I’ll never stop mentioning the Galaxy S7’s screen and design, so it’s important to have a media player that can keep up. In my opinion, VLC Media Player is the easy choice between the two. I’ve used VLC for years on my desktop, and ever since I bought my first Android phone. If you’re still playing around with your default media player, it’s time for a much needed upgrade. Free Version
13. AntiVirus PRO Android Security
Never underestimate the need for Antivirus software. AVG is one of the most trustworthy names in the Antivirus game, and with good reason. AVG not only protects your phone from harm, but can help you conserve battery power, and optimize your Android experience. The Pro version of AVG Antivirus may be $9.59, but that’s a small price to pay to keep your Galaxy S7 safe. There’s a free version available for download if the Pro version isn’t worth the upgrade in your eyes. Just remember that no matter how great the phone, security is always important. Free Version
14. Now for Reddit
I browse Reddit constantly when I have downtime, and Now for Reddit is my browsing app of choice. I’ve been using the app since it went by Reddit Now, and I don’t think I can use any other Reddit app. Now for Reddit organizes your subscribed SubReddits, syncs between your account on your desktop, and supports Reddit Gold features. Now for Reddit makes image browsing a breeze, and viewing gifs as easy as possible. It’s my Reddit browser of choice on any Android phone, and will fit right at home on the Galaxy S7. Free Version
15. Lara Croft GO
Lara Croft GO was named the best mobile game of 2015, and I’m inclined to agree. It’s style and design is spectacular at a glance, and holds up to scrutiny up close. In that respect, it’s a fitting game to put on the Galaxy S7 which might be 2016’s best phone for some of the same reasons. Lara Croft GO is a puzzle game at heart, so puzzle fans only need apply. If you enjoyed the similar title, Hitman GO, I can’t see any reason why you wouldn’t enjoy this game. Lara Croft GO’s only barrier to entry is the $4.99 price tag. Paid Version

The Samsung Galaxy S7 is an amazing phone, there’s no doubt about that. If you want the best of the best on the phone that might be the best, then you already have 15 apps to start with.
